Artist Profile

Hi and welcome to my web page.

I completed my fine arts degree at The College of Fine Arts and Design in Enschede, Holland from 1976 to 1981. I began exhibiting and selling my work internationally as early as 1974, winning numerous art prizes during the early years of my artistic career.

In 1985, I moved to Australia and set up a home and studio in the township of Trentham in rural Victoria. I have exhibited works, both locally and in Melbourne. In that time I have gained a reputation as a gifted portraitist, and over the years completed many commissions. I’m particularly proud of my commission to create a series of portraits of the assassinated Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn, which were reproduced as limited-edition giclées for Catch Projects in Utrecht, Holland.

Since 2011, I have submitted work to The Archibald Prize, with selections for the Hidden Faces of the Archibald in Victoria’s Salon des Refusés in 2011, 2012, and 2014. I was also chosen to participate in the Daylesford Macedon Ranges Open Studios Project. In 2012, I produced a major solo exhibition at the Pig & Whistle Hotel in Trentham to raise funds for The Green Gecko Project in Cambodia. My artwork was also featured in the Moon Diaries and Calendar in 2014, 2015, and 2016 in New Zealand.

Since opening Pandora Ponds Gallery and Studio in Trentham in 1999, I have conducted successful life drawing classes there.

Louise’s unique work:

‘Known for her moving, delicate, and romantic style, her work combines a rich palette with content that reflects symbolism and femininity, encapsulating her storytelling through art.’

I am honoured to have become a sought-after portrait artist and muralist, having won numerous art prizes and awards throughout my career. In 2009, I collaborated with my partner, Kevin Mutton, to complete and self-publish a book titled Running Wild, which includes poems by Kevin and my illustrations. In 2015, I became a semi-finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize with two of my portraits selected.

I have recently created a unique series of hand-painted Tai Chi sticks, showcasing my signature style and attention to detail. I am currently seeking opportunities to exhibit this collection, and hope to share these intricate works with a broader audience.
